Introducing the LANDRACE Tupelo
LANDRACE are bikes created for normal folk to enjoy extraordinary adventures. Conceived by Cyclefit pioneers Julian Wall and Phil Cavell, LANDRACE bikes and wheels are the product of their combined decades of bike-fitting and designing thousands of flawless, custom bikes for their discerning clients. The Tupelo is made from butted 3AL-2V titanium and is fitted with a Columbus Futura Gravel Disc fork. Built from titanium, it gives you a lovely smooth ride and will last forever.
Our team of ride leaders and event coordinators are supported by LANDRACE and have been given the brand new Landrace Tupelos to ride. Iconic Cycling Events ride leaders and event coordinators Natalie Creswick and Felix Young, took a trip to London in March to get professionally fitted at the CycleFit store - two very different body shapes, levels of flexibility and symmetry. They took delivery of their bikes in early May and have been riding them at all of our events since - recceing routes, signing up, buzzing around event control and leading group rides - and both have nothing but good words to say…
Natalie
“The Landrace Tupelo has been so much fun to ride. The lower bottom bracket means the handling feels much more stable, great for carrying more speed into everything you do. When I picked up the Tupelo I went out and rode a local route I've ridden many times. It includes a very tight bend on the flat which I have always had to freewheel round before. With the Tupelo, I could pedal through the whole thing. An absolute dream. Arriving home from that first ride and checking out strava, I found I'd got PRs on all of the local descents, without even trying. I live on top of a 25% climb so it's not like the descending is easy, but the bike just gave me confidence that it would sweep round corners and stick to the road. You can't argue with free speed!”
Felix
“I am used to riding an aluminium frame and so the difference in "road buzz" from Wiltshire's country lanes when switching to the Landrace was immediately noticeable. This feeling of a smooth ride helps to give the perception of speed despite being used for leisure riding so far. The fit has been shifted from what I have been riding to account for my back injury and as a result I can focus on riding the bike rather than trying to get comfortable the whole time. It is nice to feel at one with the bike again!”\

Carter Jonas join forces with the Yorkshire Pedalthon in a new headline partnership
We are delighted that Carter Jonas are once again title sponsors of the Pedalthon. We started this event with them in 2014 and they've been loyal supporters ever since.
The Pedalthon is the favourite charity bike ride in Yorkshire for the business community. Going into its tenth year, it has attracted more than 1,500 riders from businesses across the region and to date the ride has raised more than £80,000 for regional charities. This year the Pedalthon is once again raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Starting and finishing at Pocklington Rugby Club, cyclists can choose from two routes of 41 miles and 77 miles through the stunning countryside of “Hockney Country” in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. East Yorkshire is indeed the place to discover the inspiration behind some of David Hockney's most celebrated landscapes.
For the first time riders will reach the North Sea Coast line with a refreshment stop at the picturesque Sewerby Cricket Club. The food stops along both routes have always been a popular feature of the rides, showcasing some of the best produce the region has to offer. This year will be no different thanks to the support of A.Laverack & Son who have been trading locally for over 150 years, and opened their flagship store in Pocklington in 2018.
Richard Best, CEO of Iconic Cycling Events, the event organisers, commented: “We are delighted to have the support of Carter Jonas alongside teams from Yorkshire’s property and legal industries, as well as other professional services.
“Their support, along with the participating cyclists is vital in ensuring we raise as much money as possible for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance which provides such an essential service for Yorkshire and beyond.”

£7000 raised for Yorkshire Air Ambulance
It was an absolute pleasure to be up in Yorkshire last week presenting the cheque to Yorkshire Air Ambulance for funds raised from our Yorkshire Pedalthon event back in early September.
Now in its seventh year, the event has welcomed more than 1,500 cyclists and raised £80,000 for local charities since its launch in 2014.
Lin Stead, Yorkshire Air Ambulance regional fundraising manager (East & North), said: “We would like to thank Iconic Cycling Events for choosing us as the main beneficiary for this year’s Yorkshire Pedalthon.
“It costs £12,000 every day to keep both Yorkshire air ambulances maintained and in the air. Support from events such as the Yorkshire Pedalthon is the lifeblood of our charity. In rural North Yorkshire journey times to hospital are much longer and our rapid response service can make a great difference to a patient’s outcome.”

Artisan food and drink producers pull out the stops for Yorkshire Air Ambulance
Cyclists raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in the Yorkshire Pedalthon this September will enjoy some of the region’s specialities courtesy of regional food and drink producers.

The Coutts Baton Relay // Aberdeen to London via 18 offices
Providing event support for the Queen’s bankers as they celebrate 330 years of wealth management.
The Coutts Baton Relay completed yesterday, Wednesday 20th July, having been on the road (and sea) for over 5 weeks. 100 walkers arrived at the Strand at around 3.30pm, having walked the final 27km leg from Orpington to meet the team who had completed the 8km Bridges walk. The celebrations were led by none-other than Chris Akabusi (a guy who knows a thing or two about carrying a baton) and Lord William Waldegrave - now there’s a double act I wish I was there to see.
The baton set off from the Robert the Bruce statue on Broad Street, Aberdeen on the 13th June carried by four cyclists and has made its way South travelling 2,801 kms over 38 relay legs of road cycling, walking, running, sailing and mountain biking, stopping at 18 Coutts offices.
A total of 506 participants have taken part: employees, clients and friends of Coutts Bank. Some of whom have walked or cycled further than they ever have before. On one of the more challenging legs, a group of 8 mountain bike riders completed 102 miles of the South Downs Way over 2 days with 12,000 feet of climbing.
All the while they were raising money for Future Frontiers, a charity that provides disadvantaged young people with the guidance, networks and opportunities they need to realise their potential. The latest update we received from Coutts was that circa £200,000 had been raised for the charity.
Throughout the baton’s journey Iconic Cycling Events were ever-present, either in the support vehicle, or riding alongside. Providing nourishment, refreshments, along with friendly support and capturing pictures to document the journey along the way. It was an honour to be asked to support this fantastic project and a pleasure to meet so many of the participants.
If your company is looking at organising a similar office to office baton relay to mark a significant milestone in companies history please get in touch with us by emailing info@iconiccyclingevents.
